This publication is based on lectures that were presented during the 16th MEA Course that was held in October 2019, in Siena, Italy, organized by the University of Finland and UNEP. It is aimed at equipping present and future negotiators of MEAs with information in the area of international environmental law-making, including the experience of others, in order to improve the impact and implementation of these key treaties, ultimately strengthening and building environmental negotiation capacity and governance worldwide.
