Biography

Simone Targetti Ferri joined UN Environment in 2015 as an Italian Junior Professional Officer assigned to the Science Division where he has been focusing mainly on strengthening the Science-Policy interface through supporting the design and implementation of Environment Live platform, the SDGs indicators’ countries monitoring and reporting and, finally the production of the UN Environment flagship assessment: The Global Environment Outlook and its derivative products (current position).  He is also  involved in the production of other core scientific assessments,private sector engagement and in the activities of the Science-Policy and Business forum.

Simone Targetti Ferri has a PhD in environmental Economics and Second level master’s degree in environmental policies and Climate change.  He is a sociable person with a great ability to interact and communicate at all levels, driven by a deep motivation in building a sustainable future. Proactive and detail-oriented, he adapts easily to any given situation and enjoys working within multicultural teams.

Through his extensive education and valuable working experience, he has developed strong organizational skills and extensive expertise in Project Management and M&E overseeing Business Strategy, provision of Technical Assistance, Logistics, Budgeting, Risk and Research Analysis as well as Design and Validation of Programmes. His career has centered on International Agriculture, Forestry, Energy and Natural Resources Management, coupled with a strong academic background in Human Rights, International Relations and Law. He possesses strong analytical aptitudes, a quick learning capacity and problem-solving skills.

In addition to English, he has language skills in French, Spanish and Italian
